Apply for this role$180,000 – $195,000

Join a premier Defense and Aerospace Research team in Atlanta as a Systems Engineer, where you will lead the technical lifecycle of complex military systems from initial requirements to deployment. This high-impact role offers a competitive salary up to $195,000 for professionals ready to bridge the gap between project management intent and sophisticated technical execution.

About the role

As a Systems Engineer within our Defense and Aerospace Research division, you will serve as the technical linchpin for sophisticated engineering projects. This role requires a holistic approach to systems engineering, where you are responsible for ensuring that every facet of a project is meticulously planned, designed, and executed. You will work at the intersection of stakeholder needs and technical reality, translating high-level requirements into robust technical documentation and physical architectures. Your leadership ensures that our systems are not only innovative but also reliable and fully integrated within the complex environments of government engineering. The core of your work involves overseeing the entire product life cycle, from initial definitions and synthesis to implementation and long-term technical management. You will lead design teams in developing system architectures that accommodate moderate to high complexity, specifically focusing on internal and external interfaces. By maintaining a bird's-eye view of the project, you ensure that the implementation team stays aligned with the original requirements, facilitating a seamless transition from the drawing board to the field. This is a role for a strategic thinker who enjoys the challenge of managing both the technical details and the broader project trajectory. Beyond pure engineering, you will act as a Project Engineer, providing the critical translation between program management goals and the development team's daily efforts. This involves a deep dive into project planning, where you will utilize MS Project to manage schedules, resource leveling, and critical path analysis. You will be responsible for developing and enforcing rigorous system and software development processes, ensuring that our output meets the highest standards of the defense industry. Your ability to manage spend plans and track financial data will be just as vital as your ability to troubleshoot a performance bottleneck in a deployed system. In this onsite Atlanta-based position, you will also contribute directly to the design of embedded software, working with core and application layers for military systems. You will be expected to lead agile development teams, fostering an environment of continuous improvement and technical excellence. Because our work supports critical government infrastructure, you will also play a key role in developing technical reports and diagrams that detail system attributes for our sponsors. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology while maintaining a stable, full-time commitment to national defense innovation.
